You will be picked up from your Marrakech lodging—hotel, Riad, or other—and transported across the well-known High Atlas Mountains chain, over the Tizi N Tichka pass (2260 m), which is the highest point in Morocco.

When you arrive at the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site, you will be astounded by the stunning views of the surrounding landscapes and Berber villages. You will then be taken on a walking tour to learn more about the history of the Kasbah and how it was one of the most sought-after locations for the filming of many illustrious films, including “Lawrence of Arabia (1962), “The Jewel of the Nile (1985), “Queen (2013).

The following stop on your five-day desert tour from Marrakech to the Merzouga desert is Ouarzazate, also known as the Hollywood of Africa.

Following breakfast, you will continue your five-day desert excursion from Marrakech to the Merzouga Sahara Desert by travelling via the Draa Valley and across the Anti Atlas Mountains’ volcanic rock formations to Agdez and Tamnougalt. Then, as you approach Dades, you will pass through Nkob, a small Berber village noted for its many Kasbahs and used as a starting point for treks across the Jabel Saghro (Saghro Mountain).

On the route to Rissani, a Saharan village regarded as the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty that has long been known for its customary enormous market, if not the most significant and largest in the southeast of the country, where many nomads congregate for either buying or selling. The Rissani market is located the closest to the Erg Chebbi surrounding settlements and the Merzouga desert (35 kilometres).

Additionally, you’ll be travelling to one of the most popular desert locations, the Erg Chebbi Sahara desert, where you’ll ride a camel to the camp while watching the sun set over the sand dunes. There, you’ll have dinner, listen to music (Berber drums), and spend the night in a comfortable tented camp.

You are experiencing a unique morning in the Sahara today. It was worth getting up early to soak in the breathtaking views of the sunrise over the sand dunes, before you ate breakfast, showered, and rode the camels back to the starting point to meet your driver at the dune line.

Then go off on an off-road discovery trip of the nearby villages, including Hassi Labied and Khamlia village, which are home to many musicians with dark skin who are known for loving Gnawa music, which originated in Sub-Saharan Africa.

After visiting the little, deserted village of Mefes, which was formerly famous for its lead mining, go on a date with a nomad family who live close to the Erg Chebbi dunes.

You can unwind in your lodging in the afternoon or go back to the dunes to watch the sun set one more time. You could also spend an hour ATV quad biking on the dunes to cap off your day (Not included in the tour price). The hotel is where you spend the night.

After a filling breakfast at your hotel, you meet your driver and set out on your journey from the desert to Dades valley, stopping along the way in Erfoud, a little town famous for its fossilised rocks and its producers.

After breakfast at your accommodation in Dades, you will continue your 5-day, 4-night trip across the Marrakech desert, travelling to Kelaa Mgouna, the city of flowers, and Skoura Palmary, before returning to Marrakech through Ouarzazate and the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou.
