Itinerary
The first day of the 4-day desert trek through the Merzouga Sahara from Fes to Marrakech. At a height of 1,508 metres above sea level, Midlet is situated between the Middle Atlas and High Atlas mountain ranges.
The journey is breathtaking, taking in sights like Azrou, the Barbary monkeys’ habitat, the gorgeous hills of Midelt to Tiz Ntalghamt Pass, and Ziz Gorge. After a break for lunch, you can continue your exploration of the Ziz valley until you reach Merzouga.
Merzouga is a stunning village in the Sahara desert. It is a sight to behold and offers exotic camel rides among gorgeous sand dunes, which is one of the trip’s other unforgettable experiences. The bonfires here feature wonderful feasts, and the nights are lovely.
Following breakfast, we’ll begin our exploration of the area by going to a community of people with dark skin who are originally from Mali to take in their music and way of life.
Then, after visiting Miffis Mines to learn more about how they operate, we’ll travel through a gorgeous desert behind the dunes, where we’ll stop for a warm beverage with some Bedouins before heading back to the hotel.
Your local guides will provide you mounting and dismounting instructions as well as other useful safety advice before you start exploring the enigmatic Erg-Chebbi Sand Sea. Sleep in a tent like a Berber.
Following breakfast, a quick wash, and a return to our desert accommodation, we will continue our 4-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech by rising early to witness the most spectacular dawn of your life while it casts various shadows and colours over the sea of sand dunes. We’ll keep on to Tinghir and the magnificent Todra Gorge, which is one of Morocco’s tallest and narrowest valleys.
The gorge is an excellent place for trekking, sitting by the river, and enjoying some regional Berber cuisine. Following a meal in the midst of the gorge, we’ll continue through the Dades Valley and complete the day by spending the night in a fine hotel perched atop a mountain.
Our four-day desert excursion from Fes to Marrakech continues on the final day toward Ait Ben Haddou and Marrakech via Telouet.
From Ait ben Haddou, the route of the former caravans continues, stopping briefly to take in the sight of Telouet-Pasha Glaoui Kasbah before continuing on to Marrakech across the High Atlas Mountains and the renowned Tizi N-Tichka pass. Drop you off at your lodging between 6 and 7 o’clock.
